An Inadverent Hiatus.

Well I’d taken quite a break from knitting. I really didn’t mean to, but yea. I came back with a bang. 2 scarves in 2 days lol. I did the skinny scarf from diy. I love the woven stitch. Awesome. Even more so with different colors, but omg the weaving in of the ends almost drove me insane. And I started a lacey beanie. It’s my first experience with lace. It’s not nearly as difficult as ppl have told me it would be. Piece of cake. Just requires attention is all.

Fair Isle House Bag

is complete! I added a row to the crochet strap to give it more support and I prefer a thicker strap. I knitted a tad to tight in spots..hence the lumps. I’m still happy with the results. I want to make all 4 house bags, but I don’t think I’ll start another any time soon. I really enjoyed the fair isle technique ..It makes the project seem way quicker. Hopefully I’ll find or create a pattern that calls for more fair isle soon.

Skinny Scarf

I’ve been wanting to knit up a skinny scarf since forever. There’s a video on Knitty Gritty I think I’ll follow. I bought this kooky yarn in white and pink   (it’s got like 7 colorways) I’ll use that to knit it with. I’m kind of concerned if it’ll irritate my skin. I tend to be sensitive to acrylic and it’s like 90% acrylic! We shall see. I must clean first because once I start co 400 sts I won’t want to stop.

Bring on the fringe!

Ok so I’ve been super slow motion today, but I’m finally adding the fringe to my bag.

She’s not a circular needle.

Well I’m almost done with the fair isle house bag. I wasn’t quite sure i.e. petrified about doing the crochet. I did it my own way and it doesn’t look bad, however I wish I would have just done it the way the patten specified. I immediately assume it’s wrong if it doesn’t look straight and neat..sooo yea I panic and do it another way. This time I’ll let it slide becuz I don’t want the yarn to be all stretchy. I was up till like 4 trying to figure it all out. I never did, I just did it. Nike had a point there. I should be getting my kp order within the week. I’m hoping tomorrow. I’ve been running to the sound of the mail truck like a poodle for the past 2 days. I almost started  my black tweed cal, but I decided against it since I’m sooo super anxious to start fetching! Ohh.. I went over to Tuesday Morning with my mum and I bumped into an interchangeable needle set. It consist of ndl sizes 2-15, with the exception of ndl 12 (if there is  such a thing) for like 29.99$..32.61$ with taxation. Noooot bad a’tall. There were some real steals there..It was a really tiny section though. They had huuuge bamboo needles and a pack of like 4 crochet hooks for 2.49$. I shoulda nabbed those too. Dah well. I was thinking about going to a class just to meet up with other knitters in my area and hopefully around my age. The only group I’m aware of consists of ppl from ages 50 something-80..not a big deal, because I usually gravitate towards more mature ppl anyway, but I think it’d be fun to be around ppl who share other interests with me. It’s no hurry, but yea..I feel the need for inspiration! Ha I’m doing pretttty darn good with my own inspiration for now..so next stitch…

A bit delayed.

Party of five.

I finally learned how to use dpns. I was so hesitant when I first saw them in use, I thought, I’ll never learn how to do that. I  randomly bought a pair from walmart and decided to give it a go. I used the fetching pattern. I’m so adventurous  ‘ v ‘ I went to my favorite instructional site Knitting-Help.com. Watched the video a couple times and CO. I thought I had it, but I didn’t. So I tried again..and again…third time’s the charm. I also learned how to work a cable CO. It’s so pretty. I find myself using it when the pattern doesn’t call for otherwise. I still leave a bit of a tail though in case I need to use it to sew something up later or whatever. I discovered cables too. All in all none of the stuff I learned was worth the intimidation I felt about learning it. It all turned out to be pretty basic. The only thing I had a huge issue with was the thumb..but after sleeping on it..I worked it the next morning. I have no idea how I had both sides of the pattern on one side at some points in my knitting. For example, the thumb was to be done in stockinette st and the bumps were on the outside instead of the inside. Maybe I twisted the sts somehow. I think it’s safe to say that’s what happened. This made me realize I need to pay closer attn. to what I’m doing.

I finished my 2nd hat. The decreasing was a tad off b/c I guessed the beginning of the rounds..yea I can be a klutz from time to time. Next time I’ll use st markers…coz yea it’d look much better with accuracy. I’m happy with how it turned out anyway. It’s the perfect size and I love the way the decreasing looks at the top. Last time there was a little bump sticking out the top..Ha Well now back to fetching. The dpns I had were sz 3. Three needle sizes off. Needless to say it was too small..looks like I coulda swiped it off a 10 yr. old in the park -_- I ordered the proper size from KP and  some moroccan red cotlin for another shot at it. I’m really excited. I got an email from KP saying my order shipped today..last time I ordered it shipped the next day..I ordered on the 7th this time. I guess I have to consider the holidays and the fact that they moved. I’m thinking about putting the Hp scarf on the stitch holder..I doubt that I’ll be able to wear it..I knitted it in redheart..I didn’t know much about yarn then..I’d rather knit it in something more sensitive to the skin. Well..that’s about it on the yarn front.

Chilly Needles

I really should finish my hat. I had to frog it..dropped stitch and inconsistency in seed stitches. It only takes a few hours..or in my case a day to knit up. I was gonna knit the 1st section of the pattern lastnight, but I couldn’t muster the strength to knock needles. My limpy wrist isn’t entirely healed either. The fair isle bag is almost done. I need to order sz 7 circs from somewhere…prabably Kp. In which case I’ll want more firecracker heather yarn. I really want to expand..spread my knitted wings. I need to learn more about yarn types and uses and designs and all that jazz. I feel like I’m in the safe zone. Blah..it’ll happen. I want to knit a better ipod cozy. I don’t like the way the gryffindor one came out..I think redheart is partially to blame. It looks so gruff. Maybe I’ll order some cotton yarn or something softer. My ipod is worthy! Orr I could knit a nice pink one and use this cute little heart button I found. Yea that’ll be quicker. I can use whats left from my hat for it. I should work out like now.

Did I insert the needle into a nerve?

My wrist is hurting superbad. It’s a bit swollen. I’m wondering if it’s from too m uch knitting or an allergic reaction to something.

What is it with me and calorimetry?! It’s the simplist thing ever to knit and I keep frogging! I’m using woll of the andes from kp and I dunno it doesn’t seem to hole shape. I did the 2×2 rib and it came out seedy. Granted I should’ve been asleep at 3 am instead of knitting cal, but darn. Oh well..onward. (:

The fair isle house bag is coming along great. It’s so easy. I can’t wait till it’s done. I have to find a liner for it. I’m thinking something silky in burgundy.

I really should work on that gryffindor scarf. It’s soooo boring..plain old stockinette stitch, but yea..it’s almost done. I have like 8 more blocks to do.
